Occasionally when a major appliance leaves the factory, it aqcuires a scratch or dent on it somewhere through the shipment process. These appliances are fully operational, but the cosmetic issues were discovered before or right after customer delivery.

In most cases, these appliances were never used. While the original factory carton has been removed, these units are protected with corner boards and are wrapped in protective film.

Some kinds of Scratch & Dent appliances don't come with factory serial numbers, instead, "KW******" control numbers are attached to the machine and are unique to each unit.
